We took the metro to Arlington Cemetery, which I was surprised by how interesting it was. I didn't realize it was so close to DC; just over the bridge.
Rows and rows of sadness
Here is RFK's section of the cemetery; it was very peaceful.
Here is JFK, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis and their two children that died in infancy. The eternal flame is behind them.
It was very moving standing there; we had to be silent and there were lots of tourists, so it was very special to all stand there quietly looking at the headstones.
Looking back at the city from the JFK Memorial
Hard to see, but some of Kennedy's quotes are inscribed on the walls
From here, we walked over the bridge to DC. It was really hot so it was hard for the boys to keep focused. I loved seeing all the history in DC. We just don't have that same context in Vancouver.
