Looking for good coffee in Manhattan...but not Starbucks! Chris has this great app that will find the independent coffee houses! Here we are having our morning coffee!
The best museum adventure was the Tenement Museum in NY. We had an interesting tour called the "Irish Outsiders" and it was fascinating. Well worth the money. We couldn't take inside photos, but here are a few of the building outside.
These are 4 outhouses that 160 people from the building would use!
Here we are walking to the 9/11 monument; we never found it but walked near the new building.
Here we are near the waterfront, heading to the Statue of Liberty

The Empire Hotel
View from our hotel
The pool...methinks you can fit about three bodies in the pool!
Looking south
The iconic sign
Beautiful night

Fun in NY
Getting our apps worked out...ie where to eat lunch and get a good coffee...thanks Dad!
Lobby of the Empire Hotel...very fun; loved our location near Central Park, Columbus Circle, on West 64th!
Max is ready to go!
Of course, we had to find the LEGO store at the Rock!
Sign is made with lego mini figures! Fantastic!
Rockefeller Centre
Rooftop deck our hotel; it was quite the scene on a Sunday afternoon and the pool was crowded. Because there is such limited space, rooftop pools and decks are where the action is!
Finding our location..we need a spot to eat!
Loved how one is crowded in and dwarfed by the buildings

Onto New York City
Onto New York. Imagine being a 3 hour train ride to NY city? That would be so exciting! I couldn't handle it!
The boys' handy knapsacks that worked so well. Seriously cute and awesome for travel.
On the train...look at how big they are getting.
I always appreciate the view from a train...a bit gritty and real. The best way to travel, with your feet firmly planted on the ground!
Maybe some day I will live the Washington/NY lifestyle! What I found so amazing was that we passed through about 3-4 states on the train ride to NY. In BC, it would take about 8 hours to get to another province via the train! BC is such a huge province and we have so much space!
Now in NY; a quick ride to the hotel
